Goodbye
Well Ive got to go before I start crying :( But Ive managed to write a song for you)
Goodbye My Friend
Hey this was really fun
We hope you like it to
Seems like we've just begun
When suddenly we're through
Goodbye, goodbye, good friends, goodbye
Cause now it's time to go
But, hey, I say, well, that's OK
Cause we'll see you very soon, I know
Very soon, I know (Film Studies)
Goodbye, goodbye, good friends, goodbye
Goodbye
And tomorrow, just like today
With me, the IMAC & the camera
We'll be waiting for you to Film and Edit
To Film and Edit, To Film and Edit
(Instrumental - Fade Out)
By friend I'm implying that the camera, IMAC and the blog are my friends. Best Friends in fact. BFFL - Best Friends For Life xxx

Magazine Advert Construction
Step 1: I have decided to create my advert in Microsoft PowerPoint. For the simple that I am familiar with its tools and because many others are creating the advert in PhotoShop (which I do not know how to use) and wanting to use something different. Once PowerPoint was open I changed the page orientation from landscape to portrait and changed the background.
Step 2: Once I had taken all the images for my advert I saved them as a .jpg i a folder called Digi Pak Mag Ad Pics
Step 3:After selecting image I wanted to use I copy and pasted it into Paint.
Step 4: Using Paint I was able to edit the images the way I liked. In doing so I cut each member out of the full picture using the Select tool. In doing so each member appear on their own.
Step 5: Once the images were edited to my satisfaction I copy and pasted them into PowerPoint.
As you can see I have been able to edit the images so that the original background no-longer exists and non there is a transparent background. The images have also been PLACED into a square frame in order to make it easy to manipulate.
Step 6:
I have now placed a 1.5 (width) pink border around each image to make in stand out. I have also placed the images in right alignment and using the Ordering Tool (Send To Back/Bring To Front) I have been able to overlap the images.
Step 7: I then looked at different font types that I would like to used for the poster. In doing so I used Word Art and typed the same text several times in differnt fonts.
Step 8: I then started to input all the relevant information in order to create a Magazine Advert. This included release formats, dates, quotes extra. In addition I made sure that a music company logo was added to the advert to make it professional. I made the advert more attractive by making sure the elements above were in differnt alignments.

How Effective Is The Combination Of Your Main Product And Ancillary Texts Part 2
Although this was a goos idea, it was not what I wanted to achieve as the poster highlighted information for the band to be featured at a club. With this result I had to look long and hard for magazine adverts. This search was very difficult, therefore I made a search that included the similar information to what a Magazine Advert would hold. In doing so I searched for Concert Posters. I gained alot of feedback form this search which inspired me for my own Magazine Advert.
The following posters inspired me to create my magazine advert. Lilly Allen, Alicia Keys and Paramore.
Lilly Allens poster inspired me in regards to composition. When I saw this poster it allowed me to move away from the general magazine advert whereby the band of artist are in the middle of the page. In doing I created tester posters in order to give me an idea on where to place the images of the band.
Alicia Keys magazine cover allowed to arrange the text whilst placing images in bewteen them. Although the words have been divided up, audiences are still able to identify the words.
The same applies to Paramores poster. In Paramores poster the text has been placed vertical direction therefore following the portrait orientation of the page.
Below are my tester shoots showing how I have been able to develop my ideas.
Final Poster
When looking through my blog, you will notice that I have provided examples of official/real magazine adverts. In doing so it gives me and idea for my own product as well as highlighting the common conventions of a magazine advert. I have used the following conventions in my work. The name of the band, title of the song, release dates, pictures, formats, quotes etc.
When comparing my Final Poster to my tester posters I have added a background in order to make the information stand out. Apart from the general conventions listed above I have also added a website and a HMV Logo.
How Effective Is The Combination Of Your Main Product And Ancillary Texts Part 1
Digi-Pak.
This was a challenging task as I have never created a Digi-Pak before but due to the fact that I had the right resources and examples I was able to create my own. My
Digi-Pak was created using a combination of the following programmes, PhotoShop, Paint and Microsoft PowerPoint. I used used Photoshop and Paint to edit the pictures and PowerPoint was used as the basis of the Digi-Pak where text was edited, images formatted etc.
Front Cover
Due to the fact that 4FLAVA is an Unsigned Band it was difficult finding a CD or Digi-Pak Cover. However, the image above gave me an idea towards my Digi-Pak. When looking at this image I then decided to create a Front Cover that featured the band as well as th name of the artists and song.
Below is a picture of my Digi-Pak Cover (LEFT) and to the (RIGHT) is the an image of 4FLAVA which I developed my ideas from.
Looking at both images, I have been able to capture the group through images and text. Other similarities include the font. In fact I chose this font prior to looking at the original image. I GUESS GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE. . When looking closely at my front cover I have added a glow effect over the band. In doing so it helps draw attention to the band. In turn the original band uses a shadow effect and ensures that the shadow is at a certain distance between each image. In addition, they have also used a pink glow effect around each band member. I have added a glow effect around the text.
Unlike the original image of 4FLAVA, I have also been able to capture the name of the single. In doing so it allows the audience to recognize the name of the song.
ADJACENT SIDES
Again I have captured the band members for the adjacent sides of the Digi-Pak. As you can see I have dedicated one side per band member. In doing so it allows audiences to see each band member. Each member is captured in a different pose with different props. The members have also quoted a personal message. I got this idea from the Destinys Child Survivor Album Cover.
I decided to develop my ideas using the example given. I chose to keep the white background. This was achieved on location whereby I positioned the members in front of a white curtain and told them to stand on a white sheet. Props were added (guitar and stool) were added to suit the genre of music and make the members more sassy. The double feature(double image) of each member was added when using PowerPoint. I copy and pasted the image onto the main existing image and then softened the edges of both images in order to make them blend in with each other. The double feature also creates a shadow effect. This was accomplished using the Formatting Toolbar. Prior to this images where edited on Photo Shop.
Back Cover
The back cover is also known as the track list. This was my own idea and was not developed from any other examples. Due to the fact that all Digi-Paks or CD Covers have track lists it was important that I did the same. Creating the track list was simple. I Edited my chosen picture in PhotoShop. Once again for consistency purposes I have used an image of the band in a different pose. On PowerPoint I softened the edges so that the list of the tracks could be seen clearly. Although I only created a music video for the first song on the track list (Untouchable) I have added additional tracks to the list. This includes three different versions remix, acoustic and instrumental. For a finishing touch I have also added a bar code to maintain a professional feel.

Narrative Levi Strauss
Yes, thats right, Levi Strauss. The one and only, amazing jeans designer Levi Strauss. The Levi's you see in Lakeside and wear on that special date. The magnificent designer by day theorist by night Levi Strauss.
Strauss argued that a structured of narratives was a dependent on BINARY OPPOSITES.
A conflict between two qualities or terms.
e.g. Avatar - Navi's World (Save the World) vs. Human World (Destroy the World)
The binary opposites can form the basis of the narratives. E.g. Good vs. Bad, Male vs. Female, Young vs. Old. These examples can be seen in the Channel Four Teen T.V Programme 'Skins'.
For Example
Gender
Narrative can be organized through binary opposites of gender stereotypes
*In regards to our music videos gender stereotypes can be seen when a male or female talks about a relationship going wrong towards the opposite*
Gender Stereotypes: Masculine
Professional
Strong
Competitive
Aggressive
Ruthless
Gender Stereotypes: Feminine
Rational
Ambitious
Emotional
Co-Operative
Sensitive
Supportive
Binary Opposites
Constructions of gender roles in narrative lead to series of binary opposites.
Dominant
Male
White
Middle Class (Bourgeoisie)
Middle Aged
Heterosexual
Able-Bodied
Subordinate
Female
Ethnic Groups
Working Class (Proletariat)
Young/Old
Homosexual/Bisexual
Disabled
Hahahaha. Tricked you. Their are two Levi Strauss and this one is in fact the Levi Strauss with the first name Claude and the designer is simply Levi Strauss founder of Levi Strauss & Co. So in the exam please make sure you make reference to the right one. DO NOT say that Claude Levi Strauss was a designer by day and theorist by night because that is not true. And Levi Strauss designer is not a theorist.
Levi Strauss - Designer - Founder of Levi Strauss & Co
Claude Levi-Strauss - Theorist of Narrative
Narrative Todorov
Story (storyline)
Plot (sequence of events)
Elements Of Narrative?
1) Time - Real Time vs. Chronological Order
Real Time: 'High Noon' with Gary Cooper - Film lasts 1hr 30mins and events cover 1hr 30mins
Chronological Order - 'Raging Bull' Sulvestor Sallone - Film lasts 1hr 30mins and follows event of 2-3 days
My video is abstract - not in real time
2) Closure - Ending/Cliffhanger
3) Enigma (mystery)
Don't Know What Is Going To Happen?
Classical Hollywood Narratives
Linear - Chronological Order e.g. Avatar
Few Sub Plots e.g. Pulp Fiction
Tendancy towards closure - tying up the loose ends
Todorov
Narrative begins at:
Equilbruim (everything is good at the beggining)
Disruption (creating a number of Enigma's)
Enigma (Who,What, Why, How, When)
Resolution - enigmas/problems solved
New Equilibrium

Question Time
Hello and Welcome to another edition of question time. Ok, Im just joking. I have created a questionnaire using a website 'For Me To Know & You To Find Out' hahahahah. The questionnaire has been created for the evaluation and audience feedback. In doing so I am able to analyze what is good or bad for the products made.
Simply copy and paste the link into the search window.

Rihanna - Rude Boy
Now that is just one part covered he costume and make up did suit the back drop (or should I say clashed with the back drop) but not her. Well maybe that what she wanted to create. Well who knows, after her track Disturbia anything could happen. But I didnt she would have taken it literally. After CB attacked her she has kind of gone 'LOOP THE LOOP' maybe that should be her next song.
The transitions used seem to be 'Fast/Slow Reverse, Mirror, Cross Dissolve and N-Square' now if she didn't get these transitions from IMovie, where did she get them from. As for the video effects she selected Editing in the options pane, clicked on Video Effects and then selected Adjust Colours (trust me I'm an expert at this I've been doing it for 2 years and know it better than the TEACHERS). When it came to choosing the colours she went Disturbia again and selected ALL. I don't even know how to do that. Get Her!!!!
Similar to our own projects where we have to use inspiration and influences in our video, Rihanna has kind of done the same thing with her 'Zebra Scene'. Its got Lady Gaga written all over it.
Considering I cant dance cos' I have to left feet I give her a thumbs up for the shaky hip moves she uses - which was taken from Shakira's - Hips Dont Lie. But who can blame her, Shakira can even she shake her hips better than Beyonce check out the video they done together called Beautiful Liar (Beyonce hasn't got a clue)
Now think about this carefully. She has just spent a fair few $$$ on this video all because of the video effects and transitions and all she had to do is come to a little town called Dagenham, visit Robert Clack School and ask on the the media students to help her out. I am sure we would have don't it for a few BOB. And if she wanted a Digi-Pak and Magazine Advert I'm sure we could have done a deal. But Pui-San comes with her own rates.
Well I'll let you judge it for youself. I present to you the video Robert Clack Media students could have saved Rihanna lots of KERCHING ....

B.E.T Live Lounge Implementation
B.E.T Live Lounge Example Opening Sequence
As you can see the theme tune matches the speed of the opening titles. For this example I have used simple images of artists just to show what I want to achieve as a final outcome. These images would change and would relate more to the cast and crew of the initial programme.
B.E.T Live Lounge Planning
As promised I have decided to create a music programme as part of my evaluation. In doing so I have asked a few of my friends to act as presenters and a girl band representing 4FLAVA. For continuity purposes I have ensured that the same cast members used on the music video have been used as the members of the girl band. I started the idea before the half term but I am now in the editing process. In order for the TV Programme to resemble a chat show as I wish to achieve, I have looked at existing British TV Chat Shows. From the results given by Wikipedia I learned that I was in fact a TV Show addict with many of my favorite being highlighted.
This includes:
• Alan Carr Chatty Man
• Friday Night With Jonathan Ross
• The Graham Norton Show
• Jeremy Kyle (My All Time Favorite)
There were several others on the list that I did watch but didn't consider them as my favorite.
Knowing that these were the TV Chat Shows I very much enjoyed I wanted to incorporate a touch of This Morning as well as GMTV into what I wanted to create. So I selected a theme in IMOVIE a basis/template for the programmes intro. I also used freeplaymusic.com to find an appropriate song for the programme.
With all the results the programme will be a succuess.
Happy Birthday
Its my birthday today so I think I'm going to treat myself. You know get my hair done, go downtown with my friends, back to mine to continue the party a few drinks ... the party don't stop here ...
'Wake Up Aicha, Wake Up. Its time to go to school. Your going to be late. You have already missed one bus' said Mum as poured water on my face.
There I was half way through my dream birthday and she had to wake me up. I cant even try and close my eyes for an extra 5 minutes to see what happen at the end. This reminds of what I learned in Media, about how dreams are something we wished to happen in reality ... if only they could come true. Well, enough about dreams, I am up now and I guess I have to go to school for one lesson and then editing, blogging and more editing. What fun that will be. Well I guess I'll see you later.
Wish me the best because the dream I wished for didn't exactly come true =)

Its Back To The Old Skool
It was a surprise to be back in Mr. Williamson's class because we hadn't been taught by him for about a month. But this was only because we were completing our music video. On arrival to the lesson I find out that Kristian a fellow pupil has finished her music video. She was sooooo relieved that she had finish. I congratulated her for it. The class were also happy to hear that I had competed my own music video. They all said that it looked good and that I had done very well after all that filming and editing. For the first part of the lesson we just talked about what we did over the half term (which wasn't much) and the plans we have during the week.
Once the lesson began properly Mr. Williamson asked us what we would like to do. Being the opinionated one I decided that we go through the evaluation points so that we all know what to do and the expectations of the exam board. In doing so we worked as a group to brake down the question and think of possible answers for of the question. Once all the questions were covered sir gave us the option to either stay in lesson and discuss how the course has been and university options or go to the IMAC room to start our evaluation. We all decided to start our evaluation with no hesitation to that.

Inside-Outside Magazine
The show created by independent filmmaker and music video director Aicha Ouattara launched its debut on Monday 12th February but the first programme will be aired on .
Sunday 28th February, 2010.
Creator Miss A. Ouattara states that she established the concept of creating a show after many months of directing music videos. During the eight month period whilst others were making TV Bloopers; to develop her skills within Media she thought it would be a good idea to create a TV Programme, in fact she had always wanted her own TV Programme but didn't nowhere to start. 'Well, I guess I've found my benchmark', quotes Miss Ouattara.
After landing a job with the NUMBER 1 UK broadcasting station BBC Aicha gained her breakthrough in B.E.T. Live Lounge. She goes onto discuss her love for Media as well as Film and Journalism and how she very much enjoyed creating the music video. Furthermore she discuss her ideas behind the creation. Aicha states that, ‘I love listening to artists playing on BBC Live Lounge and thats where her inspiration developed from. As for the abbrivation B.E.T. this was taken from existing programming network B.E.T having the same meaning.’
About the TV Programme she says, 'the programme is strictly for students like myself who enjoy Film and Media studies. It allows them to get recognized. I see it as a road or path to success, in the industry. I believe I have used my creative ideas and personality, to the best of my ability and to my advantage'.
When asked about the making of the show, Aicha did not have a bad word to say about the cast and crew in fact she gave us a little sneak peek about the first guests on the show who are in fact the winners of Unsigned.com Meets The X.Factor, 4FLAVA. She talks about how great it was working with them as their manager and director in their new single 'Untouchable' and then being honored to have them as the first guests on her show.
For the latest gossip and news on young, up and coming filmmaker, director, manger and music video director. Please follow Aicha on her blog at aichaouattararc@blogspot.com.

The Pieces Dont Fit Anymore
... or maybe they do ...
The beginning of the music video where no lyrics are begin sung was an additional scene added after the main parts of the video were added. Knowing that adding a scene to the nearly complete video could throw out my lip synching in the other scenes I had to make slight changes to the sequence of events that occurs. I was able to successfully add the additional scene at the beginning reason why I quoted 'or maybe they do'.

Everything Changes
Knowing my luck more changes lie ahead. Situations have occurred whereby I have had to change one of the characters and use someone else. The good thing is that Tola was willing to do the job and she is doing herself, me and the music video proud ; )

If I titled this 'Everything Changes but You' I don't think it would of had the same meaning. But at least I'm trying to stick to the name of real songs when titling my posts

Evaluation Ideas
After talking to Sir and reading the exam board specification in order to add I.T skills into my evaluation it would be a good idea to create a small video whereby I answer the question given to me on the checklist. Whilst doing so I would make reference to my music video as well as making reference to other videos that have inspired me to create the video(This can be portrayed by using hyperlinks or inserting a clip into the evaluation video).
Other skills include creating a questionarie or survey that allows different audience's to measure how effective the music video is as well as measure the technical elements within the music and rate how much it reflects real music videos.
I have had discussions with a few students have decided to make a short video within their groups and simply answered the questions highlighted on the evaluation sheet. Some candidates have decided to create a blooper video showing the process, ups and downs they faced when creating their video.

Magazine Advert
The first advert is of the portrait orientation. It clearly highlights the name of the band/artist along with a picture as a form of representation. Only two colours have been used on the poster which are fairly similar to each other and contrast really well. Although the colours go together really well but I dont think it would attract many audiences apart from those who enjoy the band/artist or the genre of music. In order to improve this advert I think an image of the band/artist should be used. Additional information includes dates, slogans and CD formats.
The second advert is a combination of small adverts collected on one page. The adverts all have similar information in regards to having the name of the band/artist, slogans, dates and other useful information. Although the adverts are fairly small they have been able to draw audiences attention by use bold ad dark colour along side bright colours. Due to the fact that they are small adverts it is understandable that images have not been used.
The third advert is for a band called 'Delphic'. Out of the three adverts I like this one the most. This is because it use's the white on black on white effect. In doing so it draws attention to both he black image of the band who appear to be loating in air as well as the white bold text. Unlike the other adverts this one refrains from add slogans, dates or any additional information. I believe this is a good idea because it shows that although adverts do need other information simply drawing attention to the band/artist with two simply colours does make a huge diffenerce.

I gotta EDIT, MAKE it, FILM it through
I'm gotta get through this
I gotta get through this
Gotta FINISH IT and take my mind off you
Ive been finding it hard editing the music video. There is just one little part that I just cant get right. But I know 'I'm going to get through this'. I guess I'm going to have to import the scene again, add a few video effects and transitions here and there. Well, how hard can it be.
Just give me a NEW DEADLINE and I'll be all right
Surely a little longer couldn't change the GRADE
Give me 'til tomorrow then I'll be okay

That's What I Go To School For
I couldn't find the original music video for the track but I think I have some thing better.
After looking on You-Tube I found two videos that have been created by students from another school the only difference is that they have used a main stream song. To be honest I think both video are GREAT and they have taken into consideration the technical elements: CAMERA, MISE EN SCENE, EDITING.
